Eurasian Magpie facts
- It is one of the few animals shown to recognise itself in a mirror.
- Its black feathers shimmer blue, green and purple in the light.
Myth: Magpies steal shiny things.
Fact: In experiments, magpies were wary of shiny objects, not drawn to them.
